Courses have always been expensive, but thanks to the internet these days there are more and more free online courses accessible to everyone.
If you are keen to learn new skills or maybe just want to deepen your knowledge about certain subjects without having to gain a formal certificate such as gardening, writing, sewing, drawing, or decorating cakes, you can always learn online without spending a penny.
With this option, you will need to have a set time of which one you want to learn and focus on a particular time/day. Without this high degree of discipline, your goal to learn something new ‘now’ can easily turn into learning something new ‘one day’ and that ‘one day’ may never come.
Where to Get Free Online Courses
The first place to find free online courses is, of course, Google. You just type in the search box, for example, “photography basics”, and then add the word “free online course”, and you’ll get heaps of results.
What If There’s No Free Course for That Particular Subject?
The first step to do when there’s no free course for the subject you want is to copy the course structures from an established educational institution.
For example, if you’d like to learn about photography, you may want to type “photography course” and pick one of the most famous colleges/universities and copy their course structures.
After you copy their course structures, break them down into achievable modules, i.e. what day/time to learn one particular module.
Once you structure your own timetable, search the keywords in Google or Youtube to obtain the modules you want to study.
To make sure you remember what you learn, always write down the summary of what you learn that day, and always reread what you wrote down at the end of the week.
Have you done this type of study before? Please share your experience in the comment box below, what subject did you learn? How did you structure your hours?
